The first GPAYM trip was in 1996 when a team led by Pastor Gary Moore, VP of the Gospel Preacher Association, went to Wales to assist church planters and national pastors with Holiday Bible Clubs and an evangelistic crusade. In 1997, another team went to the island country of Grenada. It was on that trip that Keith Johnson was led to be the Director of GPA Youth Missions.
For 10 years, Keith faithfully served in this capacity leading dozens of trips all over the world. He and his wife, Roberta, took groups to several stateside locations as well as Grenada, Wales, Canada, Anguila, Costa Rica, and Brazil. During his time as Director, we saw many young people surrender their lives to serving God in different capacities and many souls come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. All who spent any time with Keith saw his passion for souls. We may never know the true impact of the ministry that Keith had.
In 2007 as Keith was preparing for a service during a missions conference in Wheeling, WV, he suffered a massive heart attack. He became unresponsive and for 2 years he lived in a comatose state before passing away in 2009.
In the time of his sickness, his son Zach was led to continue this ministry. And now for the last 11 years, he and his wife, Angie, have led GPAYM. Keith's wife, Roberta, is still very active in this ministry, as well. She serves as Administrative Assistant.
